Borrowing/Apply for a New Card

Library Cards:  Any resident of West Newbury over the age of five can obtain a library card at the library with proof of residency. A parent/guardian must be present and sign the application for any child under thirteen. This card allows a patron to use the facilities of our, and any other Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC) library, as long as the patron is in good standing.

Loan Periods:  All books and audiobooks are loaned for one three week period and may be renewed if there are no requests. Renewals can be done online through your account or by contacting the library. Periodicals and DVDs are loaned for one week and are renewable. All items eligible will be automatically renewed! For more details click here. Lost or damaged books or other material will be billed at replacement cost.

Placing a Hold: Check the online catalog to see if what you want is available at any of the 36 libraries in our library network. If it is, click the "place hold" button. You will need to log in with your library card and pin number. You can choose to pick your item up at any of the 36 libraries in the consortium.

Boston Public Library eCard: An eCard is a Boston Public Library card that provides access to all the BPL's online resources, including OverDrive and Hoopla. eCards are available to anyone who lives, resides part-time to attend school, owns property, or works in Massachusetts.
