art exhibits

For over 35 years the Friends of the Library have hosted monthly exhibits of original art by local artists.

Art Exhibits:

Tammy Tolosko is a local artist who combines her three passions, gardening, photography and painting whenever she has the chance. This exhibit shows some of her paintings and her photography.

Tammy likes to photograph her flowers in the garden during the spring and summer. During the long winter months the photos remind her that spring will eventually arrive. She travels around Maine, New Hampshire, Cape Cod, Rockport and Gloucester taking photos and then capturing them on canvas using rich oil paints. In her latest exhibit at G.A.R. Memorial Library in West Newbury, the peaceful Spencer Pierce Little farm in Newbury, a brilliant flower with its splashes of color, and the mighty Atlantic churning powerfully against the rocks, are all brought vividly to life.

A Massachusetts native, Tammy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design from the University of Massachusetts - Lowell. In addition to gardening, photography and oil painting, she enjoys painting flowers using watercolors and drawing scenic landscapes and old barns in charcoal. Tammy is very passionate about photography and has been teased by her young niece on more than one occasion when she finds out how many photos Tammy has taken of one subject looking for just the right angle or lighting. She looks for vibrant color, textures, and shapes highlighted by natural lighting.
