Borrowing
Library Cards: Any resident of West Newbury over the age of seven can obtain a library card at the library with proof of residency. This card allows a patron to use the facilities of our and any other Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC) library.
Loan Periods: All books, books on cassette or music CDs are loaned for one three week period and may be renewed if there are no requests. Periodicals, videos on cassette and DVDs are loaned for one week and are non renewable.
Lost or damaged books or other material will be billed at replacement cost.
New fee policy in effect
We are busier than ever - so much so that reluctantly we are forced to institute a handling fee for billing. If you let your library items go to a billed status we will have invested so much time & effort in calling, recalling and mailing overdue notices that you will now be fined $5.00 per item.
New! Library Elf - Elf offers library customers a way to keep track of their borrowed items by email or browser. Receive email courtesy notices when items are due, overdue or ready for pick up. Text messaging for holds is also available. Checks multiple cards; keep track of the whole family in one place.
